Recently, we heard of a company called Avalanche that sells nut free protein bars. We have a few brands of bars that we enjoy as a family, but most you find in the grocery store are not safe for nut allergies. Learning about another choice was, of course, quite exciting. :)
Here are some things that make their bars unique and worth checking out.
They are much larger than your typical granola bar. They are quite filling and would be a great option for a day hiking with friends (or if you're me...chasing your kids around Target after forgetting to eat lunch).
The flavor choices work really well, and the main ingredients (rolled oats, flaxseed, sunflower kernels, and honey) offer a lot of nutritional value. A whole bar would be way too much for my children to eat on their own. They've just be nibbling off the same one for several days. An adult would find that one bar is a sufficient snack to keep you from feeling hungry.
I'm really excited about what Avalanche is doing, and I hope you will take a look at their website at www.avalanchebars.com. These bars do include soy and milk ingredients. Their website does not mention whether or not they are gluten free. From my understanding oats can be tricky for those living with Celiacs, so if you have further questions about their oats, feel free to reach out to them for more information.
If you've had Avalanche bars before, let me know your favorite flavor in the comments below. My son loved Blueberry Vanilla, and I liked Cherry Chocolate the most.
